Microsoft Unveils Pay-As-You-Go Xbox Cloud Gaming Pricing

Starting at $3.99 for 10 hours, Microsoft is breaking its traditional subscription-only model for Xbox Cloud Gaming. The new pay-as-you-go structure allows players to purchase blocks of playtime that do not expire, providing an alternative for casual users ahead of a broader public rollout scheduled for next month.

Xbox Insiders gain early access to these bundles today, with options scaling up to 50 hours for $11.99. These packs include premium features such as ad-free streaming, reduced wait times, and improved visual quality. Unlike monthly subscriptions, these hours remain valid until fully consumed.

This shift arrives as anticipation builds for Grand Theft Auto VI. While Microsoft has secured streaming rights for the title, company strategy officer Matthew Ball clarified on X that the game will not be available via PC browsers or apps, potentially restricting access to Xbox consoles only. Simultaneously, Microsoft continues testing a free, ad-supported tier for Insiders, which limits sessions to one hour for games already owned by the user.
