The company’s product announcement lists the wall-mounted version alongside a model featuring a speaker base, yet the former lacks the necessary mounting gear. According to the fine print, buyers must choose from three Schneider Home power mounts. The Power Mount USB‑C Wall Connector starts at $59.95, while the AC Wired version costs $79.95. A Power Mount PoE Wired option is scheduled for release in early 2027 at $129.95.
Apple’s wall-mounted HomeView requires a costly add-on
Apple’s new HomeView smart home display arrives with a $299 price tag, but the wall-mounted model hides a significant catch: the hardware required to actually mount and power the device is sold separately, forcing customers to pay an additional $59 or more beyond the advertised base price.
When navigating the checkout process on Apple’s website, users are prompted to select a mount. While the system allows a “No mount” selection, it explicitly warns that the device requires both a mount and a power solution to function. By stripping away the iMac G4-style speaker base found in the standard model and charging extra for the mounting hardware, Apple effectively increases the total cost of ownership for a unit that offers less physical equipment than its counterpart.
